Combining modern precision with heirloom craftmanship.

We make design-forward functional pieces that bring style and utility to your everyday life.

Our Process

Salvaged to Preserve

We personally visit local mills to purchase kiln-dried salvaged lumber in it’s rawest form: tree trunks and massive slabs. We then further mill it using an outdoor saw mill and use joinery and smaller saws to create consistent dimensions. Each board is considerately joined to create wider pieces from advanced techniques such as book matching, where the boards are opened like a book to create beautiful symmetrical grain patterns.

Plan with Purpose

Research and development goes into every single design to ensure it functions as precisely as it looks.

The Modern Touch

Designs are manually mapped out onto each wood surface maximizing the uniqueness and beauty of the grain, then designs are translated into the language of auto CAD for perfect symmetry every time.

The Heirloom Feel

Every piece then cut away from the parent board and goes through additional manual steps such as filling any displaced knots, chamfering and rounding over edges, proceeding through three or four stages of sanding grits to create a smooth finish, then treated with hard wax oils for a finish that far outlasts and outperforms regular oils in feel, performance and looks.

Our Story

The Spirit of FAVN

At the intersection of technical obsession and quiet craftsmanship sits FAVN. The name itself is a call to action: to embrace with both hands. It’s a philosophy that guides everything we create—from the initial "mad scientist" engineering of a new geometric series to the final, quiet hours of hand-refinement.

Precision by Design. Soul by Hand. Erik waffles between the two. One moment, he is a precision-obsessed engineer, utilizing CNC technology to achieve the sharp, repeating "Terrace" lines inspired by Okanagan vineyards. The next, he is the quiet perfectionist, hand-buffing a Black Walnut or Russian Olive surface until it reaches our signature "silk-touch" finish.

Trees with a History We don’t just source wood; we save stories. Our limited Russian Olive Series was born from an ornamental tree destined for the woodchipper. Instead of disappearing, its unique grain was salvaged and transformed into a contemporary heirloom. By working with locally salvaged timber, we ensure that the history of the Okanagan remains part of the modern home.

The Future is an Open Grain We don’t claim to know exactly where this path leads. We are simply following the grain—obsessively refining our process, one architectural curve at a time.

Modern Heirlooms. Locally Salvaged. Architecturally Inspired.
